or the first time, Milwaukee’s Juneteenth celebration will extend to the Summerfest grounds after the celebrations during the day in Bronzeville.
Milwaukee’s Juneteenth celebration includes the 54th annual Parade and Festival, hosted by the Northcott Neighborhood House. It will expand to the Summerfest grounds next week, marking the first collaboration between the two iconic festivals.
Tony Kearney, executive director of the Northcott Neighborhood House said, “We’re going to have one of the largest Juneteenth celebrations in the country. Our 54th annual. We’re going to have a parade with over 180 entrants, 450 vendors.”
At the Summerfest grounds, the Juneteenth court will be introduced, showcasing a group of exceptional young people.
“The Isley Brothers are there on June 19 and Eric Benet, who is a Milwaukeean, will be at the opening ceremony performing,” Kearney said. “We’re trying to grow.”
