DanceAfrica

DanceAfrica Festival 2023

The nation’s largest festival dedicated to African diasporic dance and music returns to the stages and streets of Brooklyn for its 46th year! DanceAfrica is a vibrant annual celebration of African and African-American dance, music, and culture, featuring performances, master classes, a film series, a dance party, and the one-and-only DanceAfrica bazaar.

In 2023, we celebrate with traditional Ghanian dance and music from the National Dance Company of Ghana. Plus, the DanceAfrica Spirit Walkers return, along with the beloved RestorationArt Dance Youth Ensemble.

“DANCEAFRICA is a family reunion, a chance to see how the branches of the family tree have extended.” – The New York Times

The event is finished.

Comments Are Welcome

Note: We moderate submissions in order to create a space for meaningful dialogue, a space where museum visitors – adults and youth –– can exchange informed, thoughtful, and relevant comments that add value to our exhibits.

Racial slurs, personal attacks, obscenity, profanity, and SHOUTING do not meet the above standard. Such comments are posted in the exhibit Hateful Speech. Commercial promotions, impersonations, and incoherent comments likewise fail to meet our goals, so will not be posted. Submissions longer than 120 words will be shortened.
