Halyard Park’s 50th Anniversary Celebration

Join the Halyard Park community on Saturday, September 19, as Milwaukee celebrates the neighborhood’s 50th anniversary. The celebration begins at 11 a.m. with the unveiling of a statue honoring Beechie O. Brooks at Gaines Triangle, 2043 N. 6th St., followed by a community gathering at ThriveOn King. Brooks began developing Halyard Park in 1976, creating a suburban-style neighborhood designed for Milwaukee’s Black middle class. Today, Halyard Park remains a testament to the vision, determination and community-building of the people who made it home.

The anniversary celebration is an opportunity to remember the original residents and the generations who have shaped Halyard Park over five decades. Recent Memory Lounge events have brought residents together to share photographs, documents and personal memories, helping preserve the neighborhood’s history for future generations. Come celebrate the people, stories and enduring community that make Halyard Park an important part of Milwaukee’s history.
