30th Annual Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration

In February 2026, the Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration marks its 30th anniversary with a month-long series of events honoring the history, artistry, and living traditions of Gullah Geechee culture.

The celebration features performances, visual art, storytelling, and culinary traditions, including a celebrity chef master class with Kardea Brown. Visitors can experience the Gullah Celebration Village and signature programs such as Voices of Gullah and Bridges Between Generations, highlighting cultural continuity across generations.

Special anniversary exhibitions include Gullah Celebration at 30: Posters from the Archive, on view at the Sea Island Gallery through March 8, 2026, and the 30 Years Framed exhibition.

The celebration continues later in the year with the Original Gullah Festival of South Carolina, taking place May 22–24, 2026.
